The Dhela Zone in Jim Corbett spans over 1,173 hectares and is the sixth ecotourism zone added to the Corbett Tiger Reserve tourism map in 2014. Created from the southern buffer forests of Corbett, this zone holds a unique place in the park’s history, having recorded sightings of seven tigers—an exceptional occurrence in Corbett’s 75 years. The Dhela Zone features a mix of forest plantations and moist deciduous trees, providing shelter to a variety of wildlife, including sambar deer, which attract tigers due to the availability of easy prey. The dense sal forests here are well known as preferred hunting grounds for tigers.
A watchtower within the Dhela Zone allows visitors to observe wildlife from a distance. With 46 kilometers of jungle trails, this zone offers excellent opportunities to spot diverse animal species. Jeep safaris run both in the morning and evening, with a limit of only 15 gypsies per shift to ensure a peaceful and undisturbed experience.
